歐巴馬今晨（美國當地時間13日下午）於個人社群網站上宣布確診消息，他表示自己剛剛被驗出新冠肺炎陽性，並且喉嚨癢了好幾天，不過除此之外並無特別症狀。
歐巴馬也稱，自己和夫人蜜雪兒（Michelle Obama）都已經接種了加強劑也就是3劑疫苗，而目前蜜雪兒的篩檢結果是陰性。對於自己確診，歐巴馬也特別呼籲，若是有民眾尚未接種疫苗，可把他的確診當作一個警示，即便現在確診數在下降仍有接種疫苗的必要。
