阿富汗10日降下暴雨，洶湧河水與泥流淹沒多個省份，其中阿富汗北部巴格蘭省（Baghlan）淪為受災最嚴峻的地區之一。據《NPR》報導，聯合國世界糧食計劃署（World Food Programme，簡稱WFP）11日表示，阿富汗異常強烈的季節性降雨所引發的洪水已奪走300多人生命與數千多棟房屋被摧毀。
塔利班政府首席發言人穆賈希德（Zabihullah Mujahid）表示，數百人在這場災難性的洪水中喪生，而廣泛地毀壞導致重大的經濟損失，政府已下令動用一切資源來營救人民。此外，1名官員透露，4月阿富汗至少有70人死於暴雨及山洪，約有2,000棟房屋、3座清真寺與4所學校遭到破壞。
阿富汗4,000多萬人口中，有高達80%仰賴農業為生，如今許多農地遭到洪水淹沒。聯合國阿富汗人權狀況特別報告員貝內特（Richard Bennett）10日表示，洪水提醒阿富汗面對氣候危機的脆弱性，塔利班與國際應立即提供援助並進行長期規劃。據《中央社》報導，WFP駐阿富汗官員德拉茲（Rana Deraz）指出，目前巴格蘭省有311人罹難。
